Business & Resource Centre

ETDA's Business & Resource Centre provides a variety of Business Services and also aims to promote Income Generation and Business Related activity for Timorese people. The Business Services (including Events Management, Research Surveys, Needs Assessment and Translation) provide ETDA with revenue that brings us closer to achieving sustainability as a local NGO. This allows us to continue offering our training courses and employment services.

Events Management
Wheter you need to hire a room for a meeting, organise a one week conference or want professional development for your staff, ETDA's Event Management team can help you out.

We offer the following services bundled as part of a package or individually, depening on your needs:

- Room hire (with air-conditioning and modern facilities)

- Customised Training

- Catering (on-site kitchen)

- Internet Access

Research Surveys
ETDA believes that by monitoring people, patterns and trends we can define areas where resources exist and look at solutions for those areas that need further capacity building. We have been commissioned by several organisations to complete surveys, including the first national Human Resources Survey (2001) conducted in East Timor and the ongoing annual Global Competitiveness Survey for the World Economic Forum. Additionally, we have actively initiated several research papers including research into the situation of Information Technology training in East Timor.

Needs Assessment
ETDA's survey and research offerings also include a Needs Assessment service. Initial consultations are held with the organisation to establish the objectives of the assessment. ETDA staff then hold a series of one-on-one interviews with organisation staff as well as workshops and premises visits. The final recommendations are based on ideas of how the organisation is run and a work plan for how to be sustainable in the future with the resources that they have.

ETDA offers translation services in all four languages used in Timor-Leste; Bahasa Indonesia, English, Portuguese and Tetun. The official Tetun spelling system introduced in 2004 by the Instituto Nacional Linguistica (INL) is used by all ETDA translators.
