The century is almost 20 years old and it has now been estimated that about one quarter of the world’s people can communicate to some degree in English. It is used by who do not share the same first language spoken; it is spread by mass popular culture and by the Internet, where 80 per cent of the world’s electronically-stored information is in English. Tetun is Timor-Leste’s most widely-spoken language and there is a chance to learn a more formal style, including officially spelling. Portuguese – the nation’s official language – is also offered, from entry-level to advanced and conversation.
