COURSE OVERVIEW

The Certificate III leadership and management course was developed by ETDA using, as a guide, accredited packages from the Australian Qualifying Framework (AQF) BSB42015 and Australia Pacific Technical College (APTC) Certificates III and IV in Leadership and Management and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Regional Model Competency Standards Units of Competency. The Certificate III is the foundation for the Certificate IV in Leadership and Management, both of which has been approved by INDMO.

This course is designed for those working as supervisors, managers, team leaders, office supervisors, and emerging leaders. It includes those persons having authority and a responsibility to lead and manage individuals within a team or group. The qualification will provide participants the skills and knowledge to implement their newly learnt skills in their current workplace and other areas of influence as a supervisor or manager and assist in career pathways.

COURSE DELIVERY

Duration: The training duration of the Certificate III Leadership in Management Course will be 3 months and will comprise the following components:

In class:  A minimum of 10 days (80 hours) face-to-face participation in classroom including practical activities, group work, completion of personal learning journal, reflection, feedback, questionnaire responses, and pre-project presentation

On-the-job: Allocation of at least 200 on-the-job hours for implementation of workplace assignment or project and completion. Participants are expected to provide supervisor reports, completion of learning journal and documented evidence of implementation of their chosen project in the workplace .

Self-Study:      It is expected that a minimum of 200 hours after work to complete the course required readings and selected written assignments.

Delivery Mode: Face to face with follow up sessions as determined by ETDA. Training will be delivered in Tetun and English if required. It is a mandatory course requirement that participants implement a project with supportive documented evidence within their workplace or equivalent.

Course Fees: Please contact ETDA for course fees.  Training materials are included in course costs. Please note that it is a requirement that course fees are paid prior to course commencement unless alternative arrangements have been agreed with ETDA Director.

Entry Requirements:  Participants must be able to demonstrate a minimum of six months supervisory or management experience and be working in a supervisory or management role to be able to implement the course assessment requirements.

The Certificate III Leadership & Management course consists of 8 units of competency:

Core – 1. Lead team effectiveness

Core – 2. Lead effective workplace communication

Common Core – 3. Mentor in the workplace

Common Core – 4. Show leadership in the workplace

Common Core – 5. Manage own professional and workload

Common Core – 6 – Implement Continuous improvement

Functional – 7. Apply problem solving in the workplace using critical thinking

Functional – 8. Assess and manage workplace, health and safety

Hours: 480 (80 hours classroom, 200 hours on-the-job, 200 off-the-job assignments and self-study)

Graduates of this course will receive a recognised Timor-Leste Qualification issued through INDIMO Timor-Leste. Participants need to competently complete each unit and implement the assignment and deliver a presentation on project results to be deemed eligible to graduate.
